Course overview
This programme aims to develop and improve “soft skills”, essential to your confidence and self-esteem, and gain knowledge and understanding of the opportunities you can unlock for self-employment. The course has been designed to be taught in a classroom environment with a combination of delivery methods including presentations and interactive activities, there will be 1:1 support from the tutor alongside working with your peers.
What will I learn?
Our introduction to self-employment course is part of the Skills Connect initiative and covers the following units:
- Recognising confident thinking/behaviour
- Understanding/applying a range of confidence improvement techniques
- Developing yourself and others
- Manage personal and professional development
- Introduction to sustainability, being a Leader and being a mentor.
- How to create a personal development plan on how to seek self-employment or start a business.
Eligibility
This course is government-funded, and you must meet the following criteria to be able to study for free:
- You must currently live in West Yorkshire
- You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years for purposes other than study
- You must be over the age of 19
