Course Overview

This programme aims to develop and improve “soft skills”, essential to your confidence and self-esteem, and gain knowledge and understanding of the opportunities you can pursue to progress into a career in the early years sector.

The course has been designed to be taught in a classroom environment with a combination of delivery methods including presentations and interactive activities, there will be 1:1 support from the tutor alongside working with your peers.

What will I learn?

Our early years course includes the following units/topics: 

  • Recognising confident thinking/behaviour
  • Becoming more aware of the impact of low-confidence
  • Understanding how self-confidence/self-esteem are related
  • Becoming aware of own confidence levels.
  • Understanding/applying a range of confidence improvement techniques
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the role within the early years sector
  • Identify different types of settings within the early years sector
  • Understand communication techniques within early years settings
  • Principles of business
  • Business Communications and information
  • Upholding excellent customer service standards
  • Solving Problems and making decisions

Eligibility

This course is government-funded, and you must meet the following criteria to be able to study for free: 

  • You must currently live in West Yorkshire
  • You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years for purposes other than study 
  • You must be over the age of 19

Gain a promotion

After the course, learners will get the chance to assess the impact of the course and revisit goals. Workshops will be run so everyone has the opportunity to create personal development plans on how to achieve success.
